Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls
Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls is a waterfall in Northern Oregon. It is split into the upper falls, with a height of 165 meters and lower falls, which is 21 meters high. The waterfall is located on the south side of the Columbia River, along Interstate 84 east of Portland. The freeway offers an exit to a parking lot, from which visitors can cross below the lanes and a railroad bridge to the site of the Multnomah Falls Lodge and the waterfall.

Fans to the Twilight series of movies may recognize this waterfall from the scene of the stormy baseball game, where it serves as a backdrop. This is despite the fact that the waterfall is about 270 miles away from Forks, Washington, where the movie is set.

The picture was taken with my then brand-new Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel) on May 6, 2005. The lens I used was the old kit lens of my first SLR, EOS 300, the Canon EF 28-90 ƒ/4-5.6. The shutter speed for this photo is 1/80 seconds, with an apperture of ƒ/5.6, 100 ISO and a focal length of 28 mm, unfortunately the smallest focal length available with that lens. More pictures of this trip around Oregon and Washington can be found in a photo album.
