Germany 2010

Germany vacation April 1st through 23rd 2010. The trip was extended by the icelandic volcano by a few days. We went to Oldenburg, Bad Zwischenahn, Hamburg, Laboe, Kiel, Lübeck, Munich, Walsrode, Bremerhaven and Groningen in the Netherlands.

Holsten Gate

Most significant town gate of the late Middle Ages in Germany and trade-mark of the city. Constructed between 1464 and 1478 by the council's architect Hinrich Helmstede following the example of Flandric bridge gates. Formed middle gate in a complex of four town gates. Reconstructed between 1863 and 1871 and between 1933 and 1934. Houses the museum of minicipal history.
