German Navy Leather Uniform

Wool-lined leather uniform offered protection from the elements when U-boat crew members were working outside on the deck in foul weather or even inside the sub in the Atlantic winter. These uniforms were typically light or dark gray. (Museum of Science and Industry Collection; Pants donated by the family of Thomas C.P. Eagan, ENCS U.S.N. Ret.)
