Slowly but surely this is going to grow into a page collecting some of my favorite pictures and a little bit of background information about the photo and about the location. In addition to this, I have a lot of my photos in my Photo Album and also on my Flickr page.

2  My Equipment

The first digital camera I got was the Canon Digital Rebel, which is the name of the Canon EOS 300D on the American market. To save money, I got this camera without a lens and continued using my Canon EF 28-90 ƒ/4-5.6 and Cosina 100-300 ƒ/5.6-6.7 MC Macro which I still kept from my old 35 mm Canon EOS 300. When my Digital Rebel broke in 2009, I upgraded to the Canon EOS 40D.

The two lenses I got soon after the switch to digital are a Canon EF 28-135 ƒ/3.5-5.6 IS USM, which is a great lens with both Image Stablization (IS) and Ultrasonic Motor (USM) for not too much money and a Canon EF 50 ƒ/1.8 II. This prime (non-zoom) 50 mm lens, also known as Nifty Fifty, is a very light-weight, large aperture lens, which, without USM, has a rather slow autofocus. One of the biggest advantages of this lens is that it does not cost much and can be found for anywhere between $70 and $140. Next, to replace the cheap Cosina 100-300 lens, I purchased a Canon EF 70-200 ƒ/2.8L IS USM and a little bit later a Canon EF 100-400 ƒ/4.5-5.6L IS USM. The 70-200 is my favorite where fast shutter speeds are required indoors, as in Basketball games. To finally replace the 28-135 with an L-series lens, I purchased the Canon EF 24-70 ƒ/2.8L USM, which together with the 70-200 gives me the ƒ/2.8 aperture all the way from 24 to 200 mm.
