Mesquite Corral

This corral is typical of those built by desert ranchers to contain their livestock. Corrals in this area were generally made of mesquite timbers.

Mesquite was also used in other new ways after the Spanish arrived. Its wood was used for wheels, millstone fittings, handles on new metal tools, and even for saddles.
